Dublin City Council Dublin City Half Marathon Raises Over €750,000 for Charities and Community Causes

Dublin Marathon Group is delighted to announce that participants and supporters of the 2026 Dublin City Council Dublin City Half Marathon have raised more than €750,000 for charities and community causes through a combination of domestic and international fundraising efforts.

Now in only its second year, the Dublin City Council Dublin City Half Marathon continues to demonstrate the extraordinary impact that running events can have beyond race day — bringing communities together while generating vital funding for charities, support services and important social causes both in Ireland and internationally.

The fundraising total reflects the generosity and commitment of thousands of runners, supporters and donors who used the event as an opportunity to support causes close to their hearts. Funds raised will directly support critical services across areas including cancer care, mental health, disability services, youth support, homelessness, family services and wider community initiatives.

A significant contribution to the fundraising success came through Dublin Marathon Group’s Official Charity Partner, realbuzz, the global leader in charity running programmes. Through its international charity programme, realbuzz connected runners from around the world with fundraising opportunities and guaranteed entries into the event, helping charities access new supporters and funding streams through participation in the Dublin City Council Dublin City Half Marathon.

Chief Executive Officer of Dublin Marathon Group, Seán Ó Riain said, “We are incredibly proud that participants in just the second edition of the Dublin City Council Dublin City Half Marathon have already raised over €750,000 for charities and community causes.

The impact of this fundraising cannot be overstated. These funds will directly support essential services, charities and organisations that play a critical role in communities both locally and internationally.

One of the most powerful aspects of Dublin Marathon Group events is that they not only provide opportunities for thousands of people to get moving and improve their health and wellbeing, but also to positively impact the lives of others. Every runner who fundraised, every donor who contributed and every charity involved has played an important part in creating meaningful social impact through this event.”

Realbuzz has been working with charities, runners and global endurance events for more than 20 years and has helped facilitate over £1 billion in fundraising worldwide for charity partners through running events.
Nick Hollywood, Chief Commercial Officer for realbuzz said, “We are proud to continue our partnership with Dublin Marathon Group and to support charities and runners through the Dublin City Council Dublin City Half Marathon. The level of fundraising achieved in only the second year of the event is a fantastic reflection of the passion, generosity and commitment of the running community.”

The continued growth of the Dublin City Council Dublin City Half Marathon reinforces Dublin Marathon Group’s commitment to ensuring its events deliver meaningful community, health and social impact alongside world-class race experiences.
